Step-by-step Guide to Installing a Roof Spoiler

Step 1: Preparation

  1. Read the installation instructions from the spoiler manufacturer. They may contain specific instructions or recommendations that are unique to the spoiler you have purchased.
  2. Clean the area where the spoiler will be installed. Use isopropyl alcohol or silicone remover to clean the car roof and tailgate so there is no dirt, oil or wax that could prevent good adhesion.
  3. Dry the area completely before you begin the installation.

Step 2: Positioning the roof spoiler

  1. Hold the roof spoiler against the car to find the correct position. The spoiler should be centered, and you can use a measuring tape to make sure it is placed correctly.
  2. Once you have found the correct position, you can mark the area with masking tape. This will help you keep track of the spoiler when you start the installation.

Step 3: Mounting with tape or adhesive (if included)

  3. After drilling the holes, you can apply a rust-resistant primer around the drilled holes to prevent rust.

  1. Once the spoiler is secured, make sure it sits precisely and correctly in relation to the car’s contours. Use the masking tape marks as a reference to ensure the spoiler is centered and straight.
  2. Remove the masking tape and clean the area one last time to remove any excess adhesive or dirt.
  3. If you have used adhesive, make sure the car is not exposed to rain or heavy moisture until the adhesive is fully cured (follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for curing time).

  • Work in good weather: To ensure optimal adhesion, you should install the roof spoiler in dry and warm weather. A cold or wet surface can reduce the strength of the tape or adhesive.
  • Be precise with measurements: Take time to make sure the spoiler is correctly positioned before securing it. Once it is fixed in place, it can be difficult to adjust.
  • Use rust protection: If you need to drill into the bodywork, always make sure to protect the metal against rust with primer or sealant.
